And in paperback in the UK!

Do British, Scottish, and Irish kids really want to read about a bunch of American motocross racers up to their knee guards in murder, mystery, biker chicks, and battles on the track?

We'll find out.

If you are in the UK, both books qualify for free shipping with Amazon Prime.

If you're in the states, you can get paperbacks too, or ebook versions for the Kindle, Nook, and the iPad (on iTunes).

Words of encouragement in a pop-up motorcycle card

I dig getting mail - not bills - real mail.

A friend sent me this great 3-D motorcycle card, wishing me congrats on the launch of the 2nd book, Crash and Burn.

It made me long to jump on the bike and head cross-county, to ditch my computer screen for the open road...

but I am working away on Book 3 - and there will be no cross-country trips until it's finished.

Sisters of Mercy

Got back to work today after a two week break. I can't thank everyone enough for all the help with the book promotion and the launch of Book 2 - Crash And Burn. It was a great success.

But nose to the grindstone and all that.

Today I worked on some of the badass female characters in Mud, Blood And Motocross.

I always start with pencil sketches of all the individual elements and then scan them into the computer, combine them into a composition, and "ink" them in photoshop.

Here are some pencil sketches.

The bikes got obscured, because obviously the girls are more important.

Book Trailer Premiere

Mud, Blood And Motocross is a mystery, action/adventure novel for young adults. I looked at a lot of book trailers when I was planning my own and a lot of them made me cringe. I just couldn't imagine a badly dramatized version of the story doing anything but turning off the 14 to 18 year old guys who are my intended audience.

And because a well dramatized rendition with real motocross riders and professional filming was way out of my budget. I had to do something very different.

With a few notable exception (Hunger Games) the YA market for a long time has been flooded with vampires. (Vampires, werewolves, ghosts, angels - sorry guys, girls are not attracted to humans anymore - you'll need wings or fangs to get a date to prom.)

So I made the trailer a statement of what the book was NOT.

This book does not contain Vampires:

Book description:

Drug heists. Biker chicks. Murder.

All Nick wants to do is blaze on the trails and battle on the track, but his priorities change when his friend and mentor Billy Mackenzie is falsely accused of murder. Not trusting the local police, Nick and his friends take it upon themselves to find the real killer and prove Billy innocent.

Mud, Blood and Motocross is an action adventure for young adults with mystery, suspense, and romance. It contains mild language and some violence. Recommended ages 14 and up.

This book contains no vampires.

On Tuesday May 8th  2012, the ebook will be available on Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk for free. This is the first book in the series. Book 2 will be available May 8th, 2012 (the day of the free promotion).

Note: Motocross functions as the backdrop to this YA mystery/suspense. Readers do not need to be motocross fans to enjoy the mystery, action or romance of this novel.
